Weather

Weather said it was going to be rainy today. I thought I'd check out one of the regional parks here. I knew it would be open. I was curious how busy it would be.

I arrived later than I hoped, just after 10am. The lot wasn't full...not yet...but it was close. I found a spot, parked, and headed down the trail.

The biggest challenge is the access points. They are choke points. This is where I saw the most people. But...I was mostly able to avoid most of them. Some people are just absolutely clueless and it wouldn't matter if I was in a park hiking or in a Safeway shopping. They don't wear masks and stray way too close. I think they are the morons who think the virus is either a conspiracy or it's overblown. As they say...everyone needs their own Rock Hudson...

I first headed off on the Main Trail until it intersected the Pipeline Trail. I followed the Pipeline Trail south pass Crossroads Pond to the Loren's Ridge Trail. BTW...what is up with the rampant lack of signage on the trails in this park. More often than not the trails are not signed at all. I followed the Loren's Ridge trail to a slight cutoff trail on my left (near Marsh Lake) and finally I found some oyster mushrooms. That was one reason for heading out to the park. I hopped back on the Loren's Ridge Trail, turned onto the Marsh Lake Loop Trail, then the Sherwood Forest Trail and then I cut back to the Pipeline Trail most of the way back to the parking area.

Lots of people about. Most kept a safe distance. It was nice to see the families out and I heard one mom teaching her young daughter the rules of social distancing. In more normal times I would have stopped to chat.

I got back to my car around 1pm to find the lot chock full of cars and cars lined up all the way on 127th Ave SE. Yikes. I'm glad I got that early start.
