I decided to head out to an old standby trail to test the foot out. I wanted to get around 8 miles in...it would be the longest hike since foot surgery in December. I arrived at the TH to find a few others cars parked. I was a bit surprised to find some many cars there so early in the morning. I suspected that most of these people had hiked in the night before and were camping further in the drainage since the area was recently reopened.

The first .8mi is not even trail...it's just a hike of a gated road that leads you to the trailhead. Once at the trailhead a very generous private landowner has allowed the first 1/4mi of it to cross private land. There is a sign at the TH asking mushroom hunters to please stay on the trail. Hopefully people respect private property.

Lots of flowers out on the first part of the trail but the trail hasn't had much TLC, likely due to COVID, and further in there are lots of trees down across the trail. I turned around at just shy of 4 miles from the car where the blowdown seemed to be getting worse. I don't really know what it looks like beyond that.

Foot did pretty well. I think it likes getting put through the paces.
