Wow, time does fly. I thought it was just a few years ago that I'd last gone up Beckler Pk...turns out it was over 6 years. Incredible.

It was just Steve and I for this trip. Well...OK...maybe we were hiking with 30 of our closest non-friends too. This November the weather is weird. It felt more like June and looked more like August. It's hard to believe it's actually November. I checked recent trip reports and it looked like the bit of snow that was on the trail wasn't really all that much. The reports were right. Not enough to even wear gaiters. There is a bit of compact snow/ice on the trail from the compacting action of all the boots. Microspikes did come in handy for that.

We tried to get to the trailhead (2770') early, we managed to get there about 10am and found several cars already there. That wasn't a surprise on a nice day. The trail follows an old road for the first 1.45mi (to elev 3601') until it reaches a bit of a saddle (between Beckler Peak and Alpine Baldy to the east. I found what looked like a bit of old trail at the saddle and when I got home and checked...it looks (?) like it might be a route up Alpine Baldy. Might be worth checking out some day.

From the saddle it is easy switchbacks up to the summit of Beckler Peak. There were a few patches of compacted snow that were a bit slick and the microspikes came in handy.

Lots of people at the top (3.8mi from the car, 5062'), maybe 25-30. Pretty crowded but everyone was nice and out enjoying the surprisingly nice weather for the middle of November.

Note: the outhouse was locked. Locked! Crazy that it was locked for the season when the trailhead is still easily accessible. Lots of TP blooms along the bermed road to the right of the trailhead. Ick.
