It's been a loooong time since I've been on skis. A long time. Likely over 7 years. Last I recall, it was before the bionic knees. I had a goal three winters ago to get back on skis but it was a horrible winter, very little snow. Two years ago it was the same thing, very little snow. This year has been very different. Steve has been talking about heading up to one of the Nordic Centers all winter. Finally we managed to make it to one, the one up at Snoqualmie Pass. Steve figured it would be a light workout the day before we planned to do the Chilly Hilly. How wrong he was...for me at least.

We arrived at the Nordic Pass and Steve settled out his gear. We headed inside where we both got day passes and I rented gear. After we were all sorted out it was time to head outside.

We both booted it uphill a slight ways to the snow covered road. Once there it was time to put the skinny skis on. Oh I remember how slippery those buggers are. It took me a while to get my ski legs back. The road system (aka "trails") is nice up here with easy, moderate, and difficult trails. We stuck with the green (easy) trails. I didn't do too bad...only two falls. We headed out on the Snowshoe Trail and went a bit more than 3.5 miles before heading back the way we can in (along the same trail).

So am I a skier? I don't know. I did have fun. Nice to know I can ski even if a bit. Nice to know I can fall and not kill myself. Really though...any day to get out and not be stuck at home is a good day.
