I was looking for an easy trip. Something close. Rattlesnake Mtn (Ledges) fir the bill because it's been years since I've been there. I'd lost the past few weekends of hiking because of rain and a nasty bug.

I got the second to last spot in the overflow lot at 9am. Not to bad. I wondered how crowded the trail would get later in the day. I put the boots on, packed the rain gear, and headed up the trail.

It's all easy trail. Perfect. Good for me to warm up and also good for lots of breaks. I wanted to see how many different kinds of mushrooms I could spot.

I took my time hiking up the trail to the ledges. I got there, about 10am, and found two others. Interesting views with the low clouds down below.

I continued up the trail to the next viewpoint (looks down on the ledges) and took a short break. Ate my apple in complete solitude except for the occasional crow flying overhead. Once I got higher up than the ledges overlook it got a lot quieter. I only saw one other group of three above the ledges. Looks like most people get there and just turn around.

I thought about heading up to the first bump on the ridge, there is a radio tower there, but higher up the trail is more old road. I just wasn't too interested in hiking old roads so I figured I'd head back down taking my good old time to photograph more mushrooms. There are lots! I should subtitle this trip "the fungus are amoung us tour".

One of these days I'll get around to hiking the entire length of the mountain...
