Not much to say about this trip. I had a long stretch off for the July 4th holiday and wanted to get a few hikes in. Today's outing would be return trip to Goat Lake. It's been a long time since I've been there.

The trailhead is just off the Mountain Loop Highway. I parked and decided to hike the trail the whole way to the lake. The last time I hiked in I did the first park of the hike on the old road. This time, I wanted to see what the trail was like. Well it had rained a couple of days prior so it was nice in some spots but mucky and boot sucking muddy in others.

The trial is flat, it follows the creek for the first part. Then it after passing where the upper trail (from the road) meets up with the lower trail, it's an easy bit of gain until just before the lake. Then it's a bit steeper of a climb with the trail giving glimpses of the road wooden road that crossed the trail just before the lake. Deep forest. Big trees.

The water was calm so it was fun getting photos of the snow on the surrounding peaks reflected off the water. I found a nice quite spot under the trees for lunch. A few more photos. Then...time to hike out. Even with the mucky trail I still thought it better than a hard packed road hike out.
