Hmmm...maybe I bit off more than I could chew on this trip... It hasn't been quite a year since I got the knees replaced and this steep route on snow was just too much.

The group (Franklin, Carla, Niko, Tom, Jasper the wonderdog, me) parked at a wide spot off road, then walked the snowmobile compacted road across the bridge (over the Cle Elum River) and then walked FS46 until near where the summer TH heads up the east side of the mountain. We found the creek we were looking for and just after this, started booting (in the case of Tom and I) or skinning (in the case of the skiers) uphill. It's a moderate series of short swithbacks in the summer but a near straight uphill trek on snow. Some sections were downright uncomfortable for me.

Eventually we med up with an older FS road t about 3800'+ and I called it quits admitting I was in over my head. Too much. Too early. The skiers continued on uphill. Tom, Jasper, and I contined NW along that older FS road and made an easier loop out and back to the car using the road systems instead of the steep downhill trail.

Fun day out. Good to know where my limits are.
