I've snowshoed up Union Peak before but never tagged on Jove. We did the usual route, hiked/snowshoed up Smithbrook Road. Then, at the second switchback in the road, we headed uphill, nearly due north, looking/feeling our way around for that gentle southeast ridge of Union Peak. We found it, and followed the ridge northwesterly to the top. It's moderately steep snowshoeing but it's a great trip.

Near the top of Union we noticed a solo snowshoer, Suzanne recognized him. It was Stefan. It was the first time I'd had the chance to meet him! We consolidated our groups, snapped a couple of photos, then headed over to Jove as a bigger group. The snowshoe down the north face of Union was awesome. The ridge narrows and it looks like we had perfect conditions. It also looks like this ridge may not always "go" depending on the snow conditions (somewhat narrow and steep) so tagging Jove was a nice plus.

Heading out we just followed our tracks back to Smithbrook Rd.
