What to do when two people are recovering from being sick but still want to get out? Carla suggested Alta Mtn. I'd never been there before, I wanted to go, seemed like a good enough plan to me!

We headed up the Rachel Lk Trail. The trail is fine at first...then just below Rachel Lk it was if I was walking more in a dry creek bed than trail. The trail is highly eroded. root exposed and in pretty bad conditions in some spots.

Above the lake towards the ridge, the trail is in much better shape. Steepish in some sections but the trail surface was great. Once of the ridge, there is a trail/boot path most of the way to the summit. The trail heads towards Lila Lakes but where the ridge steepens, a path continues up the ridge staying on the ridge crest nearly the entire time.

Alta Mtn is a nice little hike/scramble. Perfect for us being on the mend.
