The intent here was to get an early start to beat the head and still be able to get in a moderate ride...say 50 miles. Well...not quite sure we got that done. We got the 50 mile ride in...but...those last 7 miles back to the car were pretty uncomfortable. I had one pretty hot foot issue going on. I didn't want to stop but had to...just to give it a few minutes rest...and then we peddled the last few miles back to the car. Temps today were in the low 90's. Steve was a real genius...and ever so kind...he'd peddle up next to me, tell me to take it easy for a sec...then squirt the contents of one of his water bottles into one of the holes of my cycling helmet...OMG...heaven.

Best sight of the day...nearing the southern terminus of the trail we spotted two horseback riders "pull up" to a "drive though" espresso stand to order coffee!
