I have a new bike and wanted to get it out for a long ride. My plan...Snohomish to Nakashima Farm (north of Arlington). The weather forecast was looking OK...a chance of rain late morning. Well I thought...better than staying home.

I loaded the bike into the back of the Jetta and off I went. Again, I started at the Pilchuck trailhead. It was cloudy and cool at first. There weren't a lot of people on the trail yet but then...it was still early. I got up to Machias in record time for me. The new bike is a lot nicer than the old flying brick. I continued further north to Lk Cassidy. The trial around here was just a bit wet but at least it wasn't raining. I took a short break and pulled out the phone to photograph the wild yellow irises blooming around the dock. Then I hopped back on my bike to continue north. The long downward stretch just before reaching Arlington...well it got more and more cloudy and more and more wet. By now it was raining pretty good. So, I figured I'd have about a 25 mile day. Not quite what I planned but better than staying home. So I turned around and peddled south...out of the rain.
