Samish Flats is a nice little wildlife area about an hour north of Seattle, west of I-5. It's right on the water and my guess is it is old farmland, it's behind a series or large levees. At times, it's flooded and if not covered in water, it can be muddy...really muddy. But, there is usually at last a small area that is walkable.

I've seen various birds around here...harrier hawks, short eared owls. bald eagles, lots of smaller songbirds. If I end up walking the dykes I usually see cormorants, herons, other waterfowl.
